Dead Space 2 takes place fairly soon after the events of the first game. I think that the best way to describe the story of this game is that it is kind of like the jump from Alien to Aliens.

Do not get me wrong this game is going to scare the hell out of you, but it certainly is more action packed than its predecessor. You once again play as Isaac as you do all you can to survive the horror.
