First look at the System Screen and configure the Computer with the same Network name as yours. Then make sure that its Firewall, and or, other security software have the exceptions to match your Network IP scheme Aka as Trusted Zone.
Type Cmd in the Start Search text box. Allow elevation. Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt , and then press the Enter key. Restart the computer.
Since you are dealing with Wireless, log to your Router and temporarily disable the Wireless security. Most Laptops have a physical switch for the Wireless card. Read the computer's manual and make sure that the Wireless card is On.
If everything above is OK and it is not connecting to the Wireless router. Log from any computer that is, or can be connected to Wireless Router with a Wire, disable the Wireless Security, make sure that the Wireless broadcast is On, and try to connect with No Wireless security.
Alternative way is to copy it from the Router's menu, and then paste when asked by the Wireless card. Software Firewall application that is Not configured to allow local traffic between the computer and the Router is a possible issue too. If possible configure the Firewall correctly, or totally uninstall it to allow clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled or disables, make sure that Windows native Firewall is On. Was this reply helpful?
Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. The ultimate culprit was in fact the Norton I had to completely uninstall instead of disable. What a pain that has been. Pir ELLI. Hi, The issue is in the the following network listed below. No issues with other network pcs so not the issue I think.
Devices working OK. No success. No success Tried a solution that stated changing the wireless channel will work. No Success. Tried a solution that stated Disbaling IPv6 will work. No success, personally would not prefer this if it had of worked. Thanks for your feedback. Recently, my laptop is having trouble connecting to my home network. It is a Dell laptop and has Windows Vista. This laptop used to be able to connect to wireless to the network without any trouble but lately, whenever it connects, it says that 'local access" and will not allow me to use the internet.
This problem occurred about the same time that I replaced my old router with a new one. Another laptop and other devices can still connect to the internet with this new router without any problems but my laptop keeps getting the "local access only" message.
After some searching, I discovered that by typing "Cmd" into the seach bar after clicking on the start menu, running this program as an administrator, typing "netsh int ip reset" into the command prompt and then restarting my computer would fix my problem and my laptop would work fine and connect to the network and to the internet without any trouble. However, as soon as my laptop went into sleep mode or was turned off, when it was turned on again the problem persisted and I would have to follow the process of using the command prompt and restarting the computer each time I turned my laptop on.
As you can imagine, this process can be quite tiresome and i would like to find a more permanent solution to my problem, especially since the past few times I have tried this temporary fix, it has been unsuccessful so my laptop is once again without internet access. If anybody has any suggestions, then it would be greatly appreciated as I am completely stumped.
